Vivienda y Suelo de Euskadi, S.A. (VISESA) was created in 1990. VISESA is a public-sector company attached to the Basque Government’s Department of Housing, Infrastructures and Transport. Its primary mission is to develop high-quality subsidised housing in the Basque autonomous community, as part of the regional government’s determination to ensure the right to decent housing for all sectors of society.
VISESA is a Public Corporation under the Housing, Infrastructures and Transport Department of the Basque Government. The principal stakeholder is the BASQUE GOVERNMENT, together with this, there are financial partners represented by four important entities in Euskadi: BBK, Kutxa, Vital and Caja Laboral. VISESA is the leading developer in the Basque region, with more than 11,000 homes completed and 2,000 under construction. 2011 turnover 107 million €, 2010 turnover 131 million €, employing 64 people.
VISESA is member of the European Construction Technology Platform (ECTP) and of the Energy Efficient Buildings Association (E2B A), an initiative towards the creation of a public private partnership. VISESA is participating in European projects in the fields of the energy efficiency, such as PIME´s (Concerto-FP7) and TetraEner (Concerto-FP6), and of labelling of the sustainability performance of buildings and Green Public Procurement, such as Open House (FP7).
In the field of resource efficient and urban friendly construction sites, VISESA, as an active social housing promoter, has experience concerning environmental issues in the building process, related to: development and testing of industrialized constructions, comparisons between buildings built up with different processes, materials and concepts, and the reuse/recycling of waste materials in construction. During the last two years, VISESA completed a study between two own developments in the same sector, with the following scope: comparative analysis of two residential buildings, one industrialized and the other built with traditional construction systems, using real site data about the different environmental impacts.
VISESA has a great experience in the implementation of ventilated façades in his regular promotions and has developed a façade with ventilated photovoltaic panels, to be integrated with other renewable sources in a microgrid model controlled by a central system and managed by an ESCO, as a part of the PIME´s project.
